SAVING (THE WORLD - A BIT)

Although I do not have the pretention of being able to save the World on my own, it just makes me feel good to do my share and be nice to mother Earth and her inhabitants. Let’s heal the world and make it a better place.

Community -life

The world can be saved (a bit) by making our footprint on earth a little smaller. That is one of the many reasons why I recently started living in an eco-community. After some years of exploring some existing communities in Spain and Holland we recently started to rent a house in the South of France with two other families. After the first stage of being ‘pregnant’ with each other, we are now taking our first steps in communal living, like healing, connecting and adjusting.

For me living in a communal way is the only way to really live connected with my heart, brain and soul. It does not feel natural to me to just live with my own family with little contact with neighbours and other family far away. Especially for my kids; they deserve more than just their parents, we are great but not perfect. It takes a village to raise a child.

And in general on the ecological, economic, social, and cultural levels mother Earth would be happier to have more places with a focus on sustainability in order to regenerate social and natural environments. So for the sake of the world, myself and my children we went communal.

Health and care

If I walk in the supermarket (nowadays not very often), I realize I just don’t want to buy even 1% of it. This 1 % is just some organic food and I’m aware that the rest is so full of sugars, chemicals and artificial stuff, that I cannot and do not want to buy it anymore. Besides the fact that they are made so mechanically and without awareness of the environment. Even with organic stuff you’re not sure. So that’s why I try to get things as local as possible, for example my own garden and some organic farms in the neighbourhood.  Just to be more sure about where the food comes from that I have to digest daily.

The same goes for products for cleaning, cosmetics and clothes. Just natural. Not only is it much cheaper, it is better for ourselves and the environment. I clean my house with vinegar, salt (baking soda) or lemon. I wash my hair with clay and sometimes an organic shampoo. I buy clothes from only natural products like wool, hemp and cotton.  And preferably fairtrade. Or do second hands. Oh no, I’m not holy, so I also make mistakes and also do things that are ‘forbidden’.
Natural parenting

I like being with children, as they can catch and heal my heart easily by their purity. They are my inspiring muppets and mirrors. I try to take care of them by listening to them truly with empathy, presence and unconditionality. I'm a fan of natural parenting and love to read and write about that. The world can be saved a bit by more consciousness about parenting, so I do my best to contribute. And the media finds me sometimes to talk about natural parenting or breastfeeding.

Natural parenting is about being a conscious parent and listening to the real needs of your kids. Children are stimulated in their abilities, accepted and stimulated to be who they are, and play as natural as they can. Their input is taken as seriously as possible. Time, attention, patience and lots of physical contact are examples of what an ordinary natural parent gives. Natural parenting is about following your heart rather than the opinions of your environment (although they might be very well meant). Natural parents see the behaviours of their children as a mirror for their own healing process. ‘Problem children’ do not exist, only children who have an unfulfilled need. So finding their real needs is what keeps us busy. We are also aware of the importance of healing ourselves before having children - or at least the biggest part of it – so we can raise them in openness and without (or with as little as possible) old patrons and conditioning.
Imperfection and healing

I graduated from my study drama therapy in 2001 and from then on I wandered around the world to explore it. After doing quite some life research, volunteer work and goodwill projects, I came back and worked as an actress, model and project manager for children’s projects. Later on I also became a facilitator in Biodanza and I got authorized in giving Bars-Sessions.
And I became a mother. Especially motherhood made me very sensitive and more aware of myself and my surroundings. I got more in contact with my own strength and intuition. I suspect we all can trust our intuition more, although it is sometimes very hard to see the difference between what we feel and what we ‘think’ to feel. We can practice that, to connect with ourselves again. Some do it with meditation and yoga, some with Tai chi, Biodanza, or whatever makes you more connected with yourself and surroundings.
Humankind has a desperate need for these kind of healing programs, especially for our kids. So we do not have to project our own 'shit' on to them.  If we would want to save the world, we should have to start with ourselves. Let's save the world by healing ourselves and/or facilitate healing for others. And admitting that we are perfect in our imperfection.

"If one way is better than the other, it must be the natural way for sure."- Aristotle.
